SoyCon Karaoke Idol

  • Rules
    • Anyone is eligible to participate, judges will not be allowed to take part of the event.

    • This event is open to all ages.

    • Singing talent is not recommended, the event is judged by lyrical interpretation and performance.

    • Cosplay is allowed, although it will not be judged.

    • Each participant must attend the picnic in order to participate.

    • All performances and content must be kept at a PG-13 level or less.

    • Pre-Registration is highly preferred. There may not be any spots open for at-con registration.

    • There may be a high demand of participants submitting, but only 7 spots will be open for those to compete.

    • There may be a waiting list of max 3 participants that will be reserved in case others drop out before the event.

    • Only one person can be named the first ever SoyCon Karaoke Idol.

  • Registration

    • Pre-Registration forms can be downloaded here. Submit your pre-registration forms to SoyCon@SoyCon.com

    • Only 6 slots will be filled for this year's SoyCon Karaoke Idol.

    • Selected participants will be blindly be selected at random.

    • If selected, participants will get an acceptance e-mail. Please respond back to confirm your acceptance. Also, send an .mp3 file of the song that you will be singing. Karaoke tracks only please.

    • Pre-Registration deadline is June 1st at midnight.

    • There is no “at-con” registration. If slots are to be filled, please contact Soy Sauce during the course of SoyCon.

    • Final entrees will be announced on June 7th at midnight.

  • Music Guidelines

    • Participants can select any song in whatever language they feel comfortable singing.

    • Each contestant must find a karaoke track of their song of choice. No main vocals allowed in tracks.

    • Songs should not exceed to more than 4 minutes.

    • The content of songs must not exceed to sexual or adult interpretations.

    • Contestants are allowed to only sing one song. No do overs.

    • Translated lyrics are acceptable.

    • There should only be one vocal per performance. No backup singers or dancers.

    • Please submit high quality mp3 tracks. Any low quality tracks will not be accepted.

    • American, Japanese, Korean, etc. music are acceptable.
