General |
• SoyCon is an event open to attendees at all ages.
• Be aware that our target audience is ages 13 and up. Some content may not be suitable for minors.
• We highly encourage all attendees participate in the various activities and events through out the weekend.
• Please be courteous and respectful towards one another.
• SoyCon takes place outdoors in the month of July. Please remember to keep yourself hydrated.
• Please avoid actions that could potentially lead to or cause harm to yourself or another attendee.
• Operations Volunteers will be in blue sashes. Please go to them if you have any questions at the event.
• SoyCon will not tolerate any illegal activities or actions. SoyCon staff reserves the right to notify the authorities and/or request said persons involved to leave immediately.
• SoyCon is not responsible for any events or actions that take place before or after SoyCon.
• Please keep all costumes tasteful and PG. Please remember that this is an outdoor event in the July and dress accordingly.

Cosplay Guidelines |
• SoyCon welcomes all genres of costuming. You're welcome to wear anything from anime, manga, video games, TV Shows, Movies, Internet memes, etc.
• All costumes should adhere to the rules of public decency. SoyCon staff reserves the right to request an attendee to change if necessary.
• Please keep all costumes PG. Example: Yoko (Gurren Lagann) is considered borderline. No costumes more revealing than this will be allowed.
• Please bring a back-up change of clothing in case you wish to change or are asked to.
• Summer weather in Chicago-Land can be unpredictable. Please dress appropriately for the weather. Please avoid costumes that involve fur, leather, wool, and/or other heavy non-breathable materials. Example: Full uniform Hetalia cosplays or Organization 13 coats.

|
Props, Weapons, & Armory |
• All props, weapons, and armor must be prop checked at the operations table after arriving at SoyCon.
• No live steel, sharp objects, or projectiles that may cause harm.
• All weapon props should be obviously fake and/or blunt.
• All projectiles must be unloaded. Non-Modified Nerf Guns and Squirt Guns are acceptable. However they must be prop checked.
• No silly string, flammable substances, or chemical based liquids will be allowed.
• Any item that could potentially be mistaken for an explosive or real weapon will not be allowed.
• Please be careful with your props so as not to cause injury to yourself or another attendee.
• SoyCon is not responsible for any prop that is lost, stolen, or broken.
• SoyCon reserves the right to confiscate or request an attendee put away any item deemed to not be with in these guidelines.

Photography & Video |
• SoyCon welcomes all videographers and photographers to attend the event.
• Feel free to shoot anytime throughout SoyCon, however be sure to have an attendees permission before photographing them.
• Please respect an attendees request to not be photographed.
• If you wish to officially represent SoyCon as a photographer or videographer please email Soy at soycon@soycon.com.

Drugs, Alchohol, & Smoking |
• For the health and well being of all SoyCon attendees smoking will only be permitted in the parking lot.
• The use of Alcohol and Illegal Substances is not permitted.
• SoyCon reserves the right have an attendee leave or contact the authorities to have said attendee removed.

Harassment / Assualt |
• There is a wide range of ages that attend SoyCon. Please keep this in mind and act appropriately.
• Please remember that everyone's personal space may not be the same as yours and adhere to basic social manners.
• SoyCon is not responsible for any instances of assault or harassment. However SoyCon staff does reserve the right to contact the authorities or have an attendee leave should the situation require such actions.
• Please be polite to your fellow SoyCon attendees.
• Repeated offenses may result in dismissal from the event for the entire weekend. SoyCon reserves the right to permanently ban an attendee from all suture SoyCon events.

Signs & Imagery |
• No signs shall be permitted at SoyCon.
• This includes but is not limited to signs that say "Free Hugs", "Glomp Me", "Will .... For Pocky", etc.
• Signs that are obviously a part of a costume may be permitted at the discretion of SoyCon staff.
